Thanks for the heads up - been trying to find a price for the session and the prints. The website is really vague.

I too am a photographer and agree that the session price isn't bad at all - the price for the prints however appears to be absolutely disgusting.

A bit gutted as my wife and I were talking about hopefully getting a large canvas with one of the prints. Guess that won't be happening now :(

Drove there twice today. Frustratingly on the second visit the annoying girl at desk claimed she didn't need my V5 document because "you've just told me you've got the same car as last year". I remarked that I'd also told her I had the same address as last year. Unsurprisingly, she wasn't willing to take my word on THAT one.

At least I showed the annoying girl at desk my bank statement on the second visit, cos now she knows her job pays rubbisher than mine.

Thanks for sharing. It sounds as if this really upset you and rightly so. Attacking someone on Twitter for a choice they have made is plain wrong.

I wanted to breastfeed and decided to try it when I had my daughter 2 years ago. I was lucky that it worked out for me/us as many friends wanted to and couldn't. Other friends didn't want to at all. All of us did what was best for our own personal situations and beliefs.

I have actually only recently stopped feeding my daughter and it actually became more of a 'dirty secret' than something I felt proud to discuss for fear of being labelled. What's wrong with us that we can't be supportive of each other, whatever our decisions and keep our judgements to ourself? Good on you for stating your opinion/your choice. The picture of your daughter I saw recently tells me it was obviously the right choice. She's obviously thriving and happy and of course that's what's important. :0)

Sally - I'm not seeing this as a public sector issue. I'm merely pointing out that the people who have felt this recession the hardest, so far, have been small businesses. As for where clients come from, our own small family construction business would love some public sector custom. Most of our clients though, come from the private sector. Public sector custom is very hard to crack... the reasons why, well, that's another blog post.

Rory - £18K would be a dream for many tradesmen, whether in good or bad times. Raking it in? We very much wish.

The average public sector salary is <£18K. Chief Execs are paid what a director of a large-ish company with a similar budget would get. We also all know of tradesmen raking it in in the good times.

Just personalising the argument with individual examples doesn't help anyone.

I agree that fairness is required across the board, but in times like this, it is invariably the young and the poor who end up being punished the most for the mistakes of the powerful and the (very) wealthy.

But during the recession one of the biggest clients for those tradesmen will be the public sector - which now has no money left. I'm using myself as an example, but the public sector is the biggest purchaser of almost any service or product you can imagine - from building to consulting, stationery, software - the knock-on effect of this will be to make people who've already been knocked sideways and just flatted them. And there are an awful lot of CEOs and non-exec directors bringing home similar amounts of cash in the private sector.

I'm not just talking about journalism/media here, or indeed myself. And I'm not saying that all public sector jobs are cushy either. However, we know plenty of tradesmen/labourers who work 10 hours+ a day but are down to taking home £4K per year. When you compare that to certain local authorities, who employ unelected chief execs at £200K per year, I think it's fair to start asking questions...

The only issue I have with this perspective is that the public sector cuts will push many small business over the edge.

After losing perhaps a dozen clients in the past 2 years in the private sector, I've seen two of my clients shut down today. Around 50% of my remaining work is about NHS IT - which is about to see cuts of £2bn.

Luckily for me, journalism is a small part of my work these days but many others aren't so lucky. All those businesses that benefit from public sector procurement are going to see their income fall off another cliff. The public sector is the single biggest customer in many British industries.

The truth is, lots of people working in the public sector have very generous contracts in the event of redundancy and will be considerably more cushioned than those in hte private sector who are going to be hit very hard by this.

And let's not forget those thousands coming out of the public sector? Now competing for the same jobs as contracts as you.

To imagine this is just about people in cushy public secto jobs feeling the pain you've been feeling is wishful thinking, I suspect.
